Environmental 360 assisted an internationally owned company with comprehensive EHS services for a new technology demonstration plant in southern Alabama. The role of Environmental 360 was to audit the newly constructed industrial facility and assess any compliance gaps associated with environmental, health, and safety, negotiate permitting conditions with the State of Alabama, and acquire all of the necessary permits. All of these tasks were completed under “trade secret” status due to the use of the highly confidential new technology.
After touring the facility operation, analyzing existing permits, reviewing environmental compliance plans, and reviewing safety documentation and training, Environmental 360 developed an action item list that would bring the facility into compliance with all EHS requirements. Our team developed the necessary air, water, waste, and safety compliance programs, which addressed all facets of industrial OSHA compliance and training. We also trained the site’s employees on these programs. The audit also revealed that a NPDES permit was required prior to beginning operation of the facility. Environmental 360 acquired this permit in less than four months; the average time required to obtain this permit is six months.
Environmental 360 team members then remained on-site for the duration of the operation to implement each of the environmental compliance plans, complete all inspections and reporting, and serve as the liaison between the client and regulatory agencies. The team worked together to cover continuous operation shifts that sometimes spanned ten consecutive days. The project result was an efficient implementation of an EHS program for a company that did not have prior knowledge or expertise associated with US EPA and OSHA regulations at a lower cost than a permanent EHS employee for the short duration of the operational period.
