Rick Wilson

Rick Wilson graduated from Troy State University in 1974 with a double major in chemistry and biology. Rick began his career with Alabama Power Company shortly after graduation as the Supervisor, Environmental Field Services. In this position, Rick was responsible for supervising personnel responsible for water sampling, river characterization and waste profiling necessary to apply for NPDES Permits for six fossil fuel electric generating plants, 14 hydro plants, and 1 nuclear electric generating plant. After issuance of NPDES permits, Rick’s group performed all water stream sampling and research projects. Rick was also later given the additional responsibility of supervising the Air Quality Field Services group. This group was responsible for the purchase, maintenance, calibration, and data reporting for 17 ambient SO2 monitors.

After 8 years of field supervisory experience, Rick transferred to the Environmental Affairs department, Environmental Compliance section in the Alabama Power Company Corporate Headquarters. In this capacity, Rick developed in-depth knowledge of air permitting, reporting, and compliance with existing air permits. In addition, this position allowed Rick to develop expertise in dealing with hazardous waste regulations including CERCLA (Superfund) and toxic substances (TSCA). Rick later narrowed his focus to compliance with all air regulations. This includes the implementation of the requirements of the Clean Air Act of 1990, Title IV, Phase I and Phase II implementation. This includes the installation, operation, and reporting requirements for Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS). This also included the emission fees and the allowance program. Rick also became a certified environmental auditor serving as the subject matter expert in air compliance for the Southern Company Internal Audit Department. In this capacity, Rick assisted Internal Auditing in performing audit on all fossil-fuel electric generating facilities except those located in Alabama. Rick also developed expertise in areas not directly related to environmental issues such as EMF and FAA requirements. After almost 40 years of experience with Alabama Power, Rick retired and joined the Environmental 360, Inc. team. Rick will be utilizing all of his experience to serve the Environmental 360 clients in many different means.
