Carey Potter
Senior ScientistCarey Potter is a Senior Scientist of Natural Resources for Environmental 360 with a background in forest management services. Specializing in fiber procurement, reforestation, and forest sustainability, Mr. Potter has over 15 years of experience in the forest products industry. He is a Registered Forester in Alabama and Certified Wildlife Biologist. While in Forestry School at Auburn University, he served as resident manager at RockFence Station, a commercial hunting lodge. He managed 15, 000 acres for deer, quail and turkey. He also actively managed the timber to improve the habitat for these game species.
After graduating from Forestry School in 1997 with a BS in Forest Management and a Minor in Business having already obtained a B.S. in Wildlife Science in 1995, Mr. Potter worked for The Timber Company, a land management company for Georgia Pacific. He provided forest management services such as forest thinning, prescribed burning, reforestation, and forest inventory analysis. As a forester for Coosa Valley Woodland Services, Inc., he served clients by delivering raw materials to the forest products market and providing forest management services to landowners. The forest management services include forest investment enhancement, forest sustainability plans, timber appraisals, timber market feasibility studies, prescribed burns, and wildlife management solutions.
In addition, Mr. Potter served as the SFI coordinator for RockTenn for six years. He served on the Alabama SFI Implementation Committee during this time. As SFI coordinator for RockTenn, Mr. Potter maintained RockTenn’s SFI certification and later, their triple chain of custody certification with SFI, FSC and PEFC. Mr. Potter serves Environmental 360 clients by providing comprehensive land management programs focusing on maximizing timber, wildlife, environmental development assets, and performing audits for chain of custody and forest certification. He provides sustainable forestry, best management practices, and forest management programs to land managers.
